Public Swimmers

If you are entering as a member of the public, below are the things you need to know.

Wetsuits - you are welcome to wear a wetsuit, but if you wish to place in the 2.5 Championship event, you will need to swim without one. You will still get a result, but 2.5km placings will be for non-wetsuit swimmers only.

For swimmers who choose to swim without a wetsuit in the 500m, 1.25km, 7.5km or 10km event, we will do our utmost to give you credit for your efforts but we will not have a seperate wave for these distances.

Flotation devices and flippers - unless you have a medical issue that requires you to use these devices, you will NOT be able to use them. Please write to us if you do want to use flippers or any flotations device that will assist you (not including a swim-tow-buoy).

10km qualifying swim - If you wish to swim the 10km event, we would prefer that you supply evidence of a timed swim of over 7km when you enter. Or, if you are not able to do this, please let us know how much training you have been doing so we can know that you will be safe. You will be asked this question when you enter.

Please note that there will also be a time limit for 10km swimmers of 4 hours and 15 minutes. It is important that you accept that we may pull you from the water if you are not finished by that time.
